A thought on Discipleship.
I am directly responsible for the spiritual growth of three young men this summer and oversee the spiritual growth of five young women. Most would call them interns; we like call them “Mid-terns”.
The past few days, as we have been planning out what scriptures we would be talking about, I got to studying discipleship and found this little nugget:
“Brothers, JOIN IN IMITATING ME, and keep your eyes on those who walk according to the example you have in us…our citizenship is in heaven, and from it we await a Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ, who will transform our lowly body to be like his glorious body, by the power that enables him even to subject all things to himself. Therefore, my brothers, whom I love and long for, my joy and crown, stand firm thus in the Lord, my beloved.”
I was just thinking about what an incredibly strenuous task discipleship is; demanding that a group of people follow you as you follow Jesus.
I pray to God that our lives would reflect the Gospel, I pray more that we invite our brothers and sisters to follow in our footsteps towards the prescence of God, Master of the Universe.
